Chapter 103 - Seclusion and Restraint

The Iowa State Department of Education has adopted changes to Chapter 103, Amended Administrative Rules on Corporal Punishment, Restraint, Physical Confinement and Detention. Northwest Area Education Agnecy has updated guidelines and reporting procedures with regard to the use of physical restraint and safe/quiet rooms. Staff who work directly with students need to be trained annually on the guidelines in Chapter 103.

The following describe our district guidelines regarding the use of physical restraint and safe/quiet rooms. These rules went into effect on November 12, 2008.
